Chicago River - Chicago

Chicago River

Cruise on the Chicago River The Chicago River Review

On a nice summer day, it might be desirable to take boat ride on the main waterway in the city, the Chicago River. The river itself leads out into Lake Michigan. Along the river are some of the greatest examples of architecture in America. The boat ride gives you a chance to ride through the heart of this grand and historical city at a leisurely pace.

Buckingham Fountain - Chicago

Buckingham Fountain

Buckingham Fountain Grant Park - Buckingham Fountain Review

Situated in Grant Park, which is near the shores of Lake Michigan, this fountain is clearly the most famous one in the city. It is the one shown in the introduction to the sitcom "Married With Children". The fountain itself is directly inspired from the Latona Fountain found at the Palace of Versailles in France. It is now set in a large circle in the park.

Sears Tower - Chicago

Sears Tower

Sears Tower Willis Tower (Formerly Sears Tower) Review

Regardless of which city strives to build the world's tallest building, the Sears Tower always holds a special place for travellers. After the events of September 11, 2001, there was obviously a great concern about this building. Like the World Trade Center, the Sears Tower is a symbol of America. Thankfully, the elevators continue to bring tourists to the observation deck.

I went on a Saturday, so there was a line. You go inside the building to one line, get in an elevator, and go to another area with a much bigger line. At that point, you buy the tickets to the observation level. Before going up, there are a few exhibits to pass by and a film to watch that illustrates the highlights of Chicago. Then, you go up to the observation deck and hopefully have a great view of the city, weather permitting. You will definitely feel the elevation gain as you are ascending on the elevator.
