This park is very much on the beaten path and attracts a numerous amount of visitors each year for good reason. Of course, I believe that there is enough room in this park for everyone. After all, it is quite rugged once you leave the road. There are a great number of hiking trails and places to explore throughout the park.
Most people stick to the main roads. Bear Lake and Trail Ridge Road are always highly sought after. Trail Ridge Road brings the visitor to an elevation above 12,000 feet into the world of alpine tundra and expansive views.
It is easy to have a good time in this park, however it can also be easy to have a trip ruined by poor planning. This normally comes in the form of being unprepared. Getting caught in an afternoon thunderstorm unprepared is no picnic, especially when lightning is involved. Hypothermia can be a real threat here.
Once a visitor has the right planning, clothing, and knows what to expect from a trip here, they are likely to have a very enjoyable experience. |
