Grindelwald is a place that will give most people a very positive experience. It is nestled in a high valley above the Interlaken area. This is a gateway to the high peaks. There are cable cars and trains to take visitors even higher up. There are also hiking trails fanning out in every direction. One can hike to waterfalls, glaciers, and to mountain lakes. Along with Zermatt, this must be one of Switzerland's top recreational capitals.
The experience can be just as easy or difficult as one would like. Trains can take anyone to the Jungfraujoch, which is situated in the high peaks. For a more demanding situation, try scaling the north wall of the Eiger! I resorted to taking the train in one case, and a hiking trail in the other. This is the place to get outdoors and forget about the rest of the world. Grindelwald will be missed...... |
