By far, Washington, DC is my favorite city in the eastern US. Its importance is obvious as is the grandness of the city. One could take a trip here for the historic significance or perhaps people hope to see something that intrigues them politically. Amidst all of the museums and monuments is a working city. There are areas that are more quiet and laid back and there are places that are quite busy in Washington.
This city is a crucial stop on a tour of the country, and most visitors walk away with something from here. With three regional airports, rail, and highway links, it is easy to get here. The Metro can bring you just about anywhere you want to go in the city, so you do not need a car here. Besides the core of Washington, there are many excellent day trips that can be made in this entire region. |
