| Stonehenge on a cool December day |
Before coming to the world's most famous Prehistoric site, I researched both sides of the arguement. I was told that this was a very incredible experience being near ancient stones. Also, I was told it would be very overrated and disappointing. Despite the warnings, I set off on a cool December day to Salisbury from Bath. The rain had stopped, which would help me in getting photos on site. A bus brought me to the site so that I could study Stonehenge at my own pace. All too often, being part of a tour group takes away from the experience of really seeing something. When I arrived, there were no tour buses in the parking lot. In fact, there were not a lot of people here at all. What more could anyone want?
I enjoyed my visit here, and the stones did seem impressive. The history is even more impressive. Not everyone will have the same appreciation for this place, because we all seek different experiences in the world of travel. I suppose if you have always wanted to see Stonehenge, it will be there waiting for you. |
