"A small country with large possibilities........" Malta by sswagner

I must confess that a majority of Americans do not know that Malta even exists, let alone to be able to find it on a map. Perhaps that was part of the appeal of going to this Mediterranean sunny spot. It does not draw in the tourists like France or Italy, however it has some very good reasons to be an excellent place for a vacation.
I particularly like history, and this country has more than a fair share of it. You have the oldest man made structures on the planet here. There are stories of knights, crusades, and the courageous defense of the islands by its people during World War II. If history is not your preference, then maybe the sunny beaches are a possibility. There are sandy beaches as well as rocky beaches. The water itself is amazing. Snorkeling and diving opportunities thrive around the Maltese islands. The people are friendly, the food is good, and for those of you who like to shop, there are some unique treasures one can find here. My only regret about coming here is that we did not have enough time here. The cultural aspects and natural beauty found in many places are worth exploring and worth a vacation.
- Pros:Some very scenic areas, strong history, not too crowded
- Cons:Hard to arrange good air connections from North America
- In a nutshell:Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So come to Malta!
