Here is yet another one of "mad" King Ludwig's famous creations. This small palace and surrounding gardens are set in the Bavarian Alps. Spectacular scenery in addition to the architecture make this a favorite stop in Bavaria. I was fortunate to have good weather on both trips out here. That made it easy to explore the grounds as well as the interior. Some of this is like a miniature version of Versailles in France. The Sun King, Louis XIV is featured in some areas, and indeed some of the garden areas and fountains mimic the displays at Versailles. The alpine setting really makes all of this look attractive. |
