We have a new member in our family, and I hope he develops some good travel instincts. His name is Jacob, and I cannot wait to take him to some different places! His first trip could very well be Kauai in March 2008. He likes the water, so this should be a fun vacation for him.

Travel is often the very thing that keeps us going. I find things to be a lot more manageable when there is a booked flight on the horizon. Television, books, the internet, and other sources often give a glimpse of far and away places. I realize that these media are often the only link many people have to other places. All too often, people are too busy with their lives or have far too little vacation time to really go to that place known only in their dreams. I am a bit more fanatical about chasing after those dreams and winning a chance to stand in a place that is perhaps scenic, historic, legendary, or even all of the above. As I grew up and watched TV or looked at the atlas, it was hard to imagine that some of these places really existed. Once it was discovered that they really were out there, there was no looking back. Now with a family of my own, it is my greatest hope to share future travels with them and have a great adventure together!

Our hopes are to see as much of the world and our own country as possible--barring a few places of notoriety of course. We hope that our travel tips are useful. It is also enjoyable to type them in simply because it brings back memories of the trip. I think we will enjoy VT and hope that you do as well!
