Ada, previously known as Johnstown

Ada, founded in 1853, is a rural northwestern Ohio village located in Hardin County with a population of about 5,000. Ada is the home Wilson, the maker of the Official Football of the NFL since 1941. Since 1913, Ada has hosted the annual Farmers and Merchants Picnic in War Memorial Park in August. The event compares to a one-day county fair and is sponsored by the farmers and merchants of Ada. Every September Ada also features the Harvest and Herb Festival, a craft show with food, a parade and downtown displays. It is held each fall as a celebration of the end of the harvest season. Every October Ada hosts Ohio Northern University's Homecoming festivities with a parade featuring student-made floats along with ONU's homecoming football game.

Ohio Northern University (ONU)

Henry Solomon Lehr founded ONU in 1871 as the Northwestern Ohio Normal School. In 1885, the school became Ohio Normal University, then became Ohio Northern University in1903.
