.
You will see fried bugs for sale in many places where food is sold on the street.
They are piled in large, metal, trays, and displayed on a push cart or bicycle cart.
You may be tempted to sample.
Go ahead, just be aware ...
...Fried bugs are thick with greasy oil, and the grease is cold.
The crickets taste like cold, dry, crunchy, bits of yesterdays french fries.
I haven't tried any other bugs.
...A far tastier choice is fresh, still warm, fried bananas and sweet potatoes.
20 baht (roughly US 65 cents), will get a bag with plenty for two people or sufficient taste samples for four.
But even then, be prepared for lots of grease.
When Thais deep fry, they don't heat the oil to the proper temperature.
So deep frying is more like long soaking in warm oil: the result is always very greasy.
