Al Hartum, meaning Elephant Trunk has recently been the centre of world attention over a number of issues *being declared by the US as an 'axis of evil' a place where Usama Bin Laden once lived, and ran a leather tannery. *The Long running North/South civil war, which has now been replaced by a peace process *The genocide in Darfur *And lately trouble with 'rebels' near port Sudan
Since Khartoum is the seat of government, foreign journalists wishing to cover any story in Sudan, the largest country in Africa, will need to pass through here in order to get accredited. |

Touristan Tue Jan 2, 2007 19:42 UTC Hotel Plaza of Khartoum is not clean and order to eat takes more than one hour. Meal of breakfast is not fresh. Workers are non sympathic who charge you for nights you have not spent . This hotel is to be avoided, really....... | Lunaina Mon Aug 21, 2006 13:21 UTC Hi! Great tips on Khartoum! This site is great because of those unknown cities, at least unknown to us Dutchies! | uglyscot Tue Jul 11, 2006 20:47 UTC Khartoum has changed a lot in the 6 years I've been away- not heard of most of the restaurants, nor seen the strange nippled building in your main page. Oh well, we return for good in just over a week, so lots of exploring to do. | Jim_Eliason Tue May 30, 2006 00:26 UTC wow this is way off the beaten path- thanks for the tips |
