True Home Hotel: Friendly Service
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • True Home Hotel really lives up to it's name - there are only 8 rooms, so you get a really personalised service and maximum privacy. It's designed in Spanish colonial style, and the decor is beautiful - each room is furnished with traditional Filipino style pieces.
Some rooms have private verandas and ocean views. A well stocked mini bar, cable TV, hot water and air-conditioning are all standard amenities.

Unique Qualities: True Home is situated right on the beach-front - the sea is just a few steps from your door. It's located in a popular spot, close to several good restaurants and bars.
The hotel's in-house restaurant, Pomadoro, serves tasty Italian food at reasonable prices.

Dave's Straw Hat Inn: Budget Cottages   Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Despite being a relatively new establishment, Dave's Straw Hat Inn has already earned itself a glowing reputation for providing reasonably priced accommodation at a very high standard. Depending on the room-rate, facilities can include hot and cold water, telephone, private security box, aircon or fan and cable TV, and the Inn offers free use of their outdoor cooking facilities. Guests also have access to the internet.

Unique Qualities: Dave and Janet are already well known for looking after their guests like members of the family - the resort is small and cosy, and this gives it a friendly, personal feel. Although it is not actually situated on the beach front, it's less than a minute's walk away, in a good location. The cottages are attractive, and set in a pretty garden.

    Mabini's: Back to Basics
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Mabini's have little beach-hut style cottages at the southern end of the island. The facilities are pretty basic, but the view makes up for it - they are really close to the sea, and on a nice quiet part of the beach. There is also pretty good snorkeling in this area.
You can haggle with them about the price. I was quoted P1000 per night, but I'm sure you could reduce that a bit. They also offer discounts for long term stay.

Unique Qualities: The cottages are native style made of bamboo and nipa (used to thatch the roof) and elevated on stilts. As far as I know there is no hot water, although in the summer this is not a problem. There is an assortment of funky little beach bars in this area, and some nice restaurants. This is a good place to stay if you want to get away from the crowds.

  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Boracay Beach Houses are in a beautiful location, only a few steps away from the sea. Suitable for groups, families, or couples preferring a secluded, romantic getaway. All four apartments are facing the sea, and the often spectacular sunsets can be seen from the beach, the garden or the verandas.
The compound includes two beach houses with two 50 sqm apartments each, and surrounding garden and beach.

Unique Qualities: All four apartments have hot/cold potable water, cable TV, refrigerator, air-conditioning, safe deposit box, a powerful back-up generator and maid and boy service. Each of the four rooms has ADSL Broadband Internet connection with unlimited access for guests.
The ground floor apartments have a fully equipped kitchen.

Isla Gecko: Station 2 on a Budget
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Isla Gecko is located relatively close to boat station 2, so if you want to be in the middle of the party zone without spending a fortune on accomodation, this is the place for you.
There are only 10 rooms, and this gives the resort a friendly, homey atmosphere. Isla Gecko is just a short walk from the beach and the main shopping, nightlife & dining areas, and has a small garden, bar and restaurant.

Unique Qualities: If you book through an agency, the prices start at P1500, but you may be able to get a better rate by booking directly. All rooms have a safety deposit box. Cable TV and air-conditioning are optional.

Fridays Boracay: A Touch of Luxury
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Although it is top of the price range in Boracay, Fridays is a beautifully designed resort, in keeping with the native architecture. The standard of service is excellent, and the location is one of the best on White Beach. I haven't stayed there personally, but I visit every so often to enjoy the surroundings and enjoy a sunset cocktail at happy hour. Beware of the Friday's Punch!

Unique Qualities: Fridays has a pool (though the sea is calm, and much nicer for swimming), an outstanding restaurant, and all the facilities you would expect to find in a luxury hotel, including:

    Pool Table,
    Table Tennis,
    Beach Volleyball & Badminton,
    Inhouse Library,
    Snorkeling equipment hire,
Kayak, Hobie Cat & Paddle Boats,
    Boating and fishing trips,
    Sunset cruises,
    Massage.

    Blue Coral: Small and Friendly....
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • If you are looking for reasonably priced accommodation in Boracay without breaking the bank, this could be the place for you. The hotel is located just a few meters from the beach, in a nice peaceful area (away from the crowds and noise). Room amenities include cable TV, minibar, safety deposit box and terrace with sea views. There is a little coffee shop downstairs, and nearby Cocoloco Restaurant also serves tasty breakfasts, lunches and evening meals.
This hotel proves that you don't have to spend a fortune to stay in Boracay - rooms start at P1000 during low season, and a standard aircon room during high season costs P2000. Deluxe rooms and a family room (with cooking facilities) are also available. Contact Maya or Vicky.

    Angol Point: Peaceful Native Cottages
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Angol Point resort has large, native style cottages/nipa huts in a lovely peaceful garden setting, just footsteps from the beach. The unusual, hexagonal cottages are made from bamboo, with traditional thatched roofs and wooden floors. Located in Angol (a couple of minutes walk south of boat station 3), this place is suitable for those who are looking for real rest and relaxation - away from the party zone and crowded areas. Facilities are basic (no hot water) but this is still one of my favourite places on the island.
Rooms cost around P2400 per night during high season and as little as P100o during off-peak.

    Villa Camilla: Value For Money

The Lazy Dog Guest House: Bed and Breakfast
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Lazy Dog is a small, cosy establishment situated on the eastern side of the island (just off Bulabug Beach). This area is popular with the kiteboarding and windsurfing crowd, so it would be very convenient for those who are into watersports. It's just a few seconds walk to the beach, and a few minutes from the nightlife and restaurants at the mall.
There are 4 nice, aircon rooms with cable TV, set in a little courtyard with an attractive restaurant/dining area & BBQ. The place is named after their big, friendly teddy-bear of a dog, who goes by the name of Milo.
Prices start at P1500 in low season (breakfast included), or P1250 (without breakfast).
During high season, rooms cost P1850 (with breakfast) and P1500 (without).
