A weeks cruise on the Nile, Good "BUT" My wife and I took a weeks Nile cruise an the spur of the moment, and while we enjoyed it, it could have been so much better had the food been a bit more varied. We were not allowed to use a different table in the dining room The beers were VERY expensive, the water, ashore was 1.5 - 2.5le while were charged at 6.0 le., so OK that's only 60 pence (just less than 1 euro) but is it really nesssasary to charge quite so much? At the start of the cruise we were asked to give the tour guide £25 sterling per person "for tips" a family of four were expected to hand over £100 for tips before they had been anywhere. The guided tours, most of which could be easily reached by foot were costing up to £15 sterling per person, in one case, four of us visited a temple for less than a third of what the tour guide wanted per person. the highlight of the trip was Abu Simbal, which was excellent but it was expensive £69 sterling, and a long way so unless it is something you really want to see give it a miss |
