Restaurant Name: The Tutankhamun Restaurant

If you are looking for traditional Egyptian food you can do no better then the Tutankhamun Restaurant. It is on the west bank, just a few hundred metres from the local ferry If you are adventurous enough to try it you will find the food is certainly "different" We had lunch there one day and for the two of us it cost less than £10 UK As for the servings, the photograph says it all!!! The restaurant is on the roof so you have a fantastic view of Luxor and the temple across the river. The owner is a very friendly guy and treats you as if you were a friend rather than a customer. If you take the local ferry, turn left and the restaurant is about 2 - 3 hundred metres on the river side. You will get the locals telling you the restaurant has closed down and try to persuade you to go to another place, this is just a trick to get you to their friends place where they will be given money from their friend which is added on to you own bill

Favorite Dish: No set menu here, Just a table full of food

Restaurant Name: The "EL KABABGY"

We tried several restaurants while we were in Luxor, but we allways gravitated back to the "EL KABABGY" The food here was first class with lunch for two at around £8 UK Including beers!! A steak Sandwich (two smallish rolls) with chips and salad was 20 le thats less than £2 UK the steak was excellent. My favourite was the grilled pigeon, not much meat but the flavour was fantastic. We spent many an hour here just watching the fallucas on the river and drinking our beers. At the end of our stay the manager sent over two sweets as a thank you for our custom. We've never had that in the UK.

Favorite Dish: The grilled pigeon was my favourite, but the steak sandwich was excellent
