Dear VT friends,
thank you for stopping and reading my letter to you ;-) I hope you are doing well and I wish you a lot of nice trips in 2009... I live in Klaipeda. It is the third bigest city in Lithuania after capital Vilnius and the second bigest city Kaunas. Klaipeda is different from other places in Lithuania, because it it the Sea Port on Baltic Sea. There are also dunes of white sand, wild beaches. It takes few minutes by ferry to get to Curonian Spit- the highest dunes in Europe. Its beauty and value was recognized by UNESCO and included into the World Heritage List. And what I really love - it is Sea wind, what you will never feel in other cities of Lithuania ;-) Please, check official Klaipeda page www.klaipeda.lt , also Curonian Spit http://www.nerija.lt/en/foto/kopos.php please, check my tips and ask me everything what you want to know about Klaipeda - I will be happy to help you.
Finaly there is a summer in Klaipeda and my friends, colleagues discuss water temperature in the Baltic Sea instead of other topics ;-). We, who live in Klaipeda, welcome a lot of guests - friends, relatives, even people who you forget during winter season, a lot of people try to get here for a holiday. I hope you will like my town too ;-) |
| Coffee in Friedrich Pasage, Klaipeda, Lithuania |
Time for coffee outdoors It is the best time for me now to go to the open market on Saturday, to buy flowers and then to stop in one of the terraces in the old town for coffe and fresh juice. Tables and chairs still wait for visitors, but after two weeks it will be difficult to find a place. |

Terraces are waiting for people Is it so close to summer time, but even the sun is shining, it is still cold, not many people in terrace yet... |
Signs of comming summer Lilac is decorating all the roads and gardens of Lithuania. Ussually the blossom of lilac has four petals, but if you find five or more, it will bring good luck for you. When we were children we used to eat these blossoms with five or more petals to make sure we will get the good luck ;-) |
Lilac in countryside This is a traditional lilac, but now you can see so many different kinds of it. |
| Dead house in Lithuanian village |
Dead house For couple of years I lived in a farm and crossed this house yard at least twice per day. The old lady who lived there died and the house will fall soon too... It will stay only as a memory in a few people mind. |
