Well I friend of mine works for a airline and always gives me free tickets. I always would just go to Hawaii 2 or 3 times a year.She kept telling me to go somewhere different so I said I always wanted to go to Japan.She said I would'nt like Japan its cold in the winter and expensive, she says go to the Philippines they speak english and Its cheap and I would'nt have any trouble. So I said why not. I had heard of the Philippines but really new nothing about it. So I get a passport and starting looking on the internet to find out what I could .A filipina friend of mine sits me down before I go and for 4 hours tell me what to expect.She is from a wealthy filipino family and has been here since she was 14.She said she was the only one in her family that wanted to come to america.She says they always had maids cooks drivers etc and she never had to do anything for herself.She gets here and can't boil water.1st thing she says is everyone thinks your rich.2nd is that theres 80 million people and haif are women and 3/4 of them want to marry you.3rd she says Im going to be like a movie star there 4th stay away from Taxis well I laughed and though she was crazy.My first trip to Manila was Jan 2004.Get to the airport in Las Vegas and off we are to Vancover hour layover then 14 hours to Manila. I know what hell is like 14 hours in couch on a plane I never understood why anyone would pay extra for 1st class now I do. I go through imigration and customs and out the door.

A driver picked me up at the airport and took me to the Hyatt Hotel.The thing I thought was this is just like Mexico City but the people looked a little more asian.The things I wanted to do was shop see a dentist and doctor and see all the sites of Manila.The last thing I thought of was a wife. Before you know it I meet Joann and she showed me all over Manila for the 3 weeks I was there.How two completely different people can get along is still a mystery a quite filipina and a big mouth american. One of the first things I noticed was what I had heard about the Philippines was from a spoiled pampered rich filipina not the normal filipino. When I saw a sign at pizza hut for employment you need a collage degree I was shocked and saw the wages shocked. I will add travel pages as I have time throughout the Philippines and my thoughts
