Restaurant Name: La Cave
This French restaurant has the greatest selection of cheesecake in town, about a dozen if I remember correctly. It's simply irresistible! However, last time I went, on July 25 2005, there was a note outside that read this: "Owner skipped town with 3 weeks pay from all employees". And it was closed. So I wonder what is going on...
Favorite Dish: Any cheesecake. I only went for desert, but I assume the cuisine must be as great.

Restaurant Name: Opa Greek Taverna
This restaurant gives an authentic taste of Greek cuisine! It was delicious. Although in the Halifax tourist guide it suggest to reserve only on weekends, I went on a Wednesday and it's a good thing I made a reservation because it was full by 5h30. Be aware that there is no air conditionaing.

Yes, La Cave has closed down. There is a new restaurant in it's place, but I haven't been there. If you want the cheesecake, you can still get it at the Cheesecake Gallery in Mahone Bay. It's alive and well, just relocated. |
