Entering another world | The view of the border and the Gibraltar rock |
It was a great day. We had to visit the great Gibraltar for many reason: 1st a James Bond film was turned there but also for the history that was writtrn there! British Territory, you will need your passport to enter Gibraltar (Wich I found very exciting!).
Gibraltar is at first a big rock that stand 500 meters above the sea level. The closer you get the better it is. Its beauty will charm you. This is where Tarik-ibn-Ziyad arrived. The Gibraltar gets his name after "djebel Tarik" wich means Mount Tarik. In the 1300 the Gibraltar was the host of many battles between the muslim and the christian. The GIbraltar has been in the hands of the British since 1713.
The habitants of Gibraltar are named Llanitos: it's a mix of english and spanish.
To get there from Torremolinos back and forth is about 20 euros. To walk to the border get off at the La Linea bus stop! You can not walk to the Gibraltar from Algeciras. I recommended the bus to go there beacuse it can take you hours to get through the border with a car. It's much easier by foot!
It was a great trip that I recommend to everyone! |
