I arrived in Cairo at night. My first contact with Cairo was the heat: 35 degrees at night! While it was 15 at home! Of course I was looking for the pyramids but I fast realized that Cairo is more than the pyramids. It is all about the people who lives there. It's about thier culture, the joy of live, thier smile and the welcoming atmosphere for other culture. It was a great, it was different, it was purely egyptian it was my new home for a few days. Yes my new home! Cairo, even if very different from my Gatineau-Ottawa or Montreal in Canada, made me feel at home because of the never ending life that animates the city. I loved it, I will go back! Don't get me wrong, Cairo is dirty, polluted, and the social classes are very distinct. But when you look behind that aspect, it is very rich...rich in culture! It's a place to see and visit! |
