What a rush. I flew in on Tuesday and by the time I got to my hotel it was around 3 p.m. So I decided just to wait and see the falls the next morning, though my flight out was at 2 p.m.
Among my adventures was meeting two Irish women at my hotel who turned out to be nuns in plain clothes trying to convert me to Catholicism.
Now that I look back on my little trip to Iguazu, what a strange trip it was.
I took a cab to the falls and stashed my luggage in a locker at the park. My cab driver, Rafael, agreed to come back and pick me up at 1 p.m. to go to the airport. He was right on time! So after a crazy 4 hours of racing around the park, taking a jeep ride, a boat ride, a train ride and walking out on the catwalks to the Devil's Throat, I headed back to Buenos Aires to resume my vacation there.
It's amazing how well you can communicate without being fluent in each other's language. Honestly, my Spanish is limited but I can understand a lot more than I can speak. Rafael asked me all about where I was from, my family and my religion! Then he told me all about himself. He said he is a 7th Day Adventist, has 5 kids, enjoys going into Buenos Aires occasionally but only for a couple of days to see some Tango because the city is too crazy and fast-paced for him! He loves the Missiones area and gave me a book about it as a gift when he dropped me off at the airport.
- Pros:Beautiful
- Cons:Crowded
- In a nutshell:See it if you have a couple of extra days in South America
