I thought I was in Mexico?

We decided last minute to escape this tundra we call home for some tequila and tacos, sun and sand, and R&R in Mexico. Getting off the plane in Cancun was heavenly. We had just gone through 6 weeks of subzero temperatures and more snowstorms than I can count!
We shed our winter gear, got in our jeep and got ready for some Mexican fun in the sun.

When we reached Playa Del Carmen, the charming little fishing village I expected was no longer. Holy Crap, I thought I was in Florida!!

5th avenue is now a mecca for big box stores. Starbucks, MacDonalds, Burger King and tons and tons of expensive designer stores!! You name it, they got it!

If you love shopping, clubbing and don't mind spending an atrocious amount of money, you'll really enjoy this place. And I'm not being sarcastic!! It was nice to spend a couple of days here but it really isn't my cup of tequila.

    There's a Starbucks there now? Ah geez, wasn't last time I was there. A good reason to stay further south near Tulum.
