I was fortunate enough to have the time to visit this pretty little beach, south of England. I was UNfortunate that my camera decided to die the day I was there so all I have are the memories of Brighton and this bookmark. =(
But I'll try my hardest to describe it in words.
When we got off the train and started walking towards the sea, I thought it was a just a pretty little town. Weaving through tiny cobblestone alley ways, passing by pubs that looked a hundred years old, and shops that you think you'd only see in movies, I've stepped back in time.
Then I heard the waves crashing and seagulls overhead and just before the beach came into view, you can smell the water along with the grease of the fish & chip shops along the shore...
Oh.. my... God...
It reminded me of a poem by Edgar Allan Poe "Annabelle Lee".. read it, you'll know what I mean..
It's a little piece of heaven on earth. It was a cloudy day but the sun was forcing itself through the clouds and what looked like laser beams were cutting through the sky into the water. Absolutely breathtaking!!
Off to the side, there's a carnival on the pier with all the the lights blinking and flashing in the distance. This place was picture perfect!
After walking on the shore for awhile, we stopped and had fish & chips in a greasy little spot just across from the beach. The service wasn't the greatest but it did add to the charm of the place. This was the best fish & chips I've ever had.. Up until now, I don't think i was eating the real thing..
Then a walk along the pier, playing some carnie games and to top off the evening, a pint at a quaint little pub with a boy who made me laugh..
