Restaurant Whymper Stube: Raclette and Fondue

Restaurant Name: Restaurant Whymper Stube
It's an institution in Zermatt. Edward Whymper and his team were the first to reach the peak of the Matterhorn in 1865, I believe. (not that's any sort of endorsement of its food, but an interesting tidbit).
Favorite Dish: Only had the fondue, it was quite good. Why is it good? Because when it's about 55-60 degrees out, and they bring you a big steaming pot of cheese with its own little sterno burner, and a glass of white wine, and you are sitting in the MOUNTAINS in ZERMATT, how much better could it be?

aussiedoug Wed Feb 23, 2005 06:27 UTC G'Day Beth. Not much on Fondues myself, but the way you describe the setting make me want to be there. And that hotel sounds just absolutely superb. This is a place I've wanted to visit for a long time. | BeatChick Tue Jan 25, 2005 16:36 UTC And she dares!!!
