View of the Garfagnana from Barga

It was a treat to experience Barga, but I wasn't expecting having to hitchhike into town. The train arrives about 20km outside of town and the listed bus did not bother arriving nor were there any taxis. I had friends to meet up the mountain at Il Ciocco resort so I hit the road and found a friendly lift.

The place is special. My previous comment was that there was not much infrastructure for back-packers but see comment below from doggybag about the emergence of some new options in town. good news!

Ciocco ? no there are now a series of bed and breakfast and hotels down in the town of Barga itself. Anew Liberty Style Hotel has just opened in Barga Giardino as well. The www.barganews.com site has an up to date list of the places to stay in Barga
