On our way home from our family road trip to Williamsburg, Virginia we stopped in Philadelphia for one night and a day.
We had Philly Cheesesteak for dinner when we got there. It was delicious! And then swam in the hotel pool. The kids enjoyed looking up through the glass at all the big buildings around us as we swam in the pool.
After a good night's sleep we attacked Independance Hall area!
I havent been to Philly since I was 10 years old, but even as a child, I remembered it as a very exciting and very beautiful city. It was fun to rediscover it a little bit. It would have been nice to have more time. But I think that we made the best of our time there, and saw the things that mattered to us the most. |

Seeing The Sights One of our first stops was to head over to the Visitor's Center, where we got the tickets to see Independance Hall. The tickets are free, but you do have to pick them up in advance and they are only good for a specific time of day.
You've got to go through the security checkpoint before you get into the Independance Hall area, and after the security checkpoint you come into the display for the Liberty Bell.
My kids were very fascinated by the crack in the bell, and wanted to learn every detail of how it got there, and why it formed and what was done to fix it! | | |
