Motorcycling in Laconia

Lord Leather ready to ride!
Every June the week before Fathers' Day millions of Motorcyclists descend upon my tiny state of New Hampshire. It's truly mass mayhem, with motorcycles everywhere. The street is flooded with them. It's noisy, it's dangerous, it's wild.. and it is soooo much fun!

If you've got a bike... go!

Lake Winnepasaukee

Every Year we visit "The Big Lake" as it is known around here. It is said that there are 365 Islands on the lake and we have tried to see each and every one of them. Bear Island is almost as large as a pretty big village, and has it's own post office. But the tinyest island holds only a dollhouse, made to look like a real lake house.

We've had a great time looking at the map and discovering every little cove and island. Many of them are very amusingly named and once we saw them on the map we had to go and find out why a particular pass is called "Hole in the Wall" or "Sally's Gut" for example!

The water is clean and clear and in many places deep.. and early in the season it is very cold.

On the Lake

Riding around the Lake on a boat is the best way to see everything that you want to see. There are also public cruise ships that you can take from Weirs Beach. The Mount Washington (or just 'the Mount' to locals) is a great way to see everything.
