  • We did the Jurassic Safari Tour with RH Tours. It was a great day in the Dominican country-side. The tour was a lot of fun, and we learned a lot about the local culture.

Some of the places we visited: the cigar museum, a typical Dominican house and farm, elementary school and got a chance to interract with the kids there, went up the mountain where we rode horses, went on the hanging bridge, swam in a river, went up the ranch where they had monkeys, crocodiles, parrots, etc, we had lunch at the ranch as well (very good and there were singers too!), and finally we stopped at macao beach for boogie boarding!

It was a long day, but worth it.

Price: $75 US per person. This includes all excursions mentioned above, the guide, drinks (both alcoholic and softdrinks), and lunch.

  • This was the first stop in the tour. We met the owners of the house as well - an old married couple, who made us tea and coffee. They were really nice to us, I wish I brough some gifts for them.

  • He's very knowledgeable about the area, and bilingual to boot. Language school is very expensive in the Dominican, so he taught himself German, English, and French!!

  • We stopped by at this school to say hi to the kids. They were so cute, they even sang the national anthem to us. The school was definitely lacking in facilities, so a lot of tourists bring school supplies for the kids. It's an awesome way to share and encourage the kids to stay in school.

Things To Do: Jurassic Safari: Cocoa Fruit
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Guide showing us how chocolate is made from the fruit cacao (?). There were freshly-made chocolate and coffee products for sale afterwards. The lady at the ranch makes them. I bought some for gifts, and they are really good!
