Local Customs: Typical Appetizer Food

A lot of restaurants serve this kind of appetizer. I am not sure if all restaurants charge for this, but the ones we went to did. It is like a cover charge of $5 reals and they give you this treat before a meal. BTW: Make sure what you think is cheese is not butter before you shove a hunk of butter into your mouth

While on the beach if you are drinking a beer or soda, a lady or man with a plastic bag will come around and ask if they can take it. If you do not speak Portuguese this might be confusing at first.
