Union City, New Jersey adjoins Jersey City and is just five minutes west of the Holland Tunnel (NYC) after Weehawken. Due to it's location, It is a smal town with a lot of New York City influence. It is a poor and overcrowded city. However it has always been a destination for immigrants. It was predominated by Germans, Italians, and today it is almost entirely Hispanic. The Hispanic population is very diversified (Cubans, Dominicans, Central and South Americans). It is also defined by Bergenline Avenue. The city can be easily split to halves with the boundary being the Lincoln Tunnel. The northern part or the downtown is more commercial, inner-city like, and bustling. The southern part is more residential with tree lined streets and some beautiful apartment buildings.
. Please see tourist traps, as well.
- Pros:very multicultural
- Cons:very congested
- In a nutshell:Gateway to Latin America

I wouldn't have listed that under "Tourist Traps" - but that does sum-up Union City - a very confusing place, it takes a couple of days to get comfortable with, especially for us "country boys"..
Excellent info on this great town on the other side of the Hudson...Yo amo Union City...
