Laidley is a rural shire of 694 sq kms with a population of approximately 13,500, located 85 kms west of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Long before white settlement, the area around Laidley was occupied by the Kitabul tribe of Aborigines. The Kitabul were one of six tribes known as the Birren people who had a share in the area west of the Darling Downs.
Evidence of their long occupation is to be found in many areas including engravings showing the Rainbow Serpent and other symbols of the Spirit World near Black Duck Creek.
Today, Laidley Shire continues to experience strong growth and is changing from predominantly rural to a more closely settled rural residential environment.
Today Laidley is known for its produce in the area. They farm all verieties of fruit and vegetables that are transported Australia wide .as well as other stuff like vegetables[http://www.lockyervalley.com/index.html] Lockyer Valley

G Mapped Laidley, so my old home town was an hour away from Johannesburg and about 11 hours from Port Elizabeth,
Laidley was like Warmbaths or Brits which we visited often ;-)))
hello mystery member # 3. this is a very nice homepage. i liked the attractions. many of them are just for me.
Be sure to hit Ha Long Bay as well as Tam Coc. I, personally, felt Mai Chau was just built for tourists but the drive is really nice - great scenery. Gillybob greetings
Hi, Saw your comment on Langkawi so had to check out your site. We love Laidley, nearly settled there ourselves years ago, still visit yearly.
Love the Laidley pages, must come and investigate more fully some day

Always grand to visit a hometown of the person. Yours is very well presented. Love your enthusiasm, insights, and glorious photographs, especially of the hot air balloon ride.
When it's hot here, which it hasn't been for a while now ... I sleep with an ice pack, fan, and chamomile tea (iced of course) ... might that help?
