  • The butterfly farm covers an area of .8 hectares and has over 3,000 butterflies, frogs, scorpions and other creatures to see.
    We saw snakes, lizards , even spiders. The butterflies are lovely to look at and if your lucky they will even land on you.
    the entry cost is RM12.50 for adults and RM6.25 for children. be aware that if you take a camera in with you you will have to pay for that too.
    they are open weekdays 9am to 5pm and weekends 9am to 6pm

    Kek Lok Si (Buddhist) Temple: an amazing structure

  • This temple is the largest Buddhist temple in SE Asia. It has a 7 story pagoda and a HUGE statue of Kuan Yin, Goddess of mercy to look at. We spent hours there and didnt even realise it. There is a souvenir shop there to buy things. Be aware that some areas require you to remove your shoes before entering.
    Visiting hours are 9am to 6pm

    Penang Hill (Bukit Bendera): trainride to the sky

  • a must do is taking the Funicular train up Penang Hill. you will see breathetaking views on the way up and once up the top. It is 701 metres above sea level.Once you get to the top there are gardens to walk around in and food stalls to get something to eat or drink.
    The rail servicxe begins at 6.30am and ends at 9.30 pm. the fare is RM4.00 for adults and RM2.00 for children.

  • We met up with Audrey and her hubby and Pehsan (who organised it) and her friend Ed.after lunch they took us to the botanical gardens where we had a lovely walk around and Grump got chased by a monkey when he trtied to take photos of her and her baby.....it was funny

    Burmese Temple (Dhammikarama): SO COLOURFUL

  • The Dhammikarama Burmese Temple at Burmah Lane, was the first Buddhist temple to be built in Penang in 1803,.
    This temple is a lovely site and well worth the trip to see it.

  • Go for a drive....either hire a car....or get a driver to take you around.......take in the scenery.....It is so green ... you will be amazed....

    Reclining Buddha temple (Wat Chayamangkalaram): RECLINING BUDDHA

  • The reclining Buddha si located at Lorong Burma (Georgetown.)
    It is a Thai temple built in 1845 by a Buddhist monk, who came from Thailand.
    You can find this temple in Lorong Burmah, Pulau Tikus. The opening hours are from 6.00am till 5.30pm. The entrance is free.
    The Buddha is 33-metre gold-plated statue. When you walk behind the Buddha you will find a lot of glass cases inserted into the wall. These are the ashes of some of the devotees. The ashes are in an urn and on the glass door is some minor details of the person.Example a photo, their aged at death.

     Vicky, Penang is lovely isn't it. Great place to stay and to visit. Think you meant "teh tarik" (not Tongkat Ali - local aphrodisiac, ha ha ha). Added in token amount like mint to tea toattract customers. Durian also has same effect. Cheers, SL
