Our tour group was offered a complimentary upgrade to a 4-star hotel - Hotel Equatorial Shanghai, on the last two days. After staying in 3-star hotels during this Jiangnan-Shanghai trip, we finally got to stay in a nice, comfortable hotel!
We loved the bed (big, fluffy King-sized bed) and the room, which was clean and cosy. This hotel provided what we usually expect - hairdryer, safe deposit box, bathrobes, etc (not all the hotels we stayed at during this tour provided all these!).
The international buffet breakfast was also very good, with a huge variety of food (this was very important to us, as we were getting sick of eating greasy noodles and fried rice every morning in the other hotels) eg. cheese, ham, bacon, omelettes etc....
Unique Qualities: This hotel is located quite near to some shopping malls and the Jing'an Si MRT station. It is also nearby to some eateries and restaurants (eg. Cuban restaurant, Kuo Bee Pen Da Steamboat Restaurant, etc).
