| Bayon Temple @ Angkor Thom |
After reading so much about all the sights in Siem Reap (especially Angkor Wat), it's always been one of my dream destinations, and I was able to get a 5-day break to visit this beautiful place with my hubby. I was not disappointed - Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm etc are truly magnificent examples of great Khmer architecture which had withstand the test of time, and they are all so beautiful! |

| | Besides spending our time marveling at the temples and their intricate carvings, we also enjoyed eating the local food.
The attractions and temples we visited during these 5-days include: Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm, Prasat Kravan, Pre Rup, Lolei, Preah Kho, Bakhong, and Tonle Sap (the largest fresh water lake in SE Asia) |
| | We loved taking photos of the carvings of apsaras and devatas, the female spirits in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. Apsaras are female spirits who are depicted to be dancing; and devatas are guardians of the temples. They sport different postures, garments and even hairstyles or headdresses. We saw a few with really funky hairstyles at Angkor Wat, and we were thinking: "even the celestial beings have their bad hair days!" |

balhannah Tue Feb 24, 2009 07:06 UTC Nice photos. Looks like you did a similar route to what I did. It was good to get off the beaten track and see something different. |
