A Paradise for Shopaholics and Foodies

New! Updated: December 2007 visit to HK

Night Scenery of HK on the Peak
I've just returned from HK! We visited places of interest, e.g. Repulse Bay, Aberdeen Fishing Village, Avenue of Stars, Victoria Peak, Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum, HK Space Museum, etc...

My personal favourite was the experience of taking in the awesomely beautiful night scenery of HK on the Peak.

New! Sightseeing and Sampling Great Local Food

We had a lot of fun sampling HK's local fare, e.g. the desserts, the fermented beancurd (trust me, it was super delicious!), the deep-fried "yu dans" (fishballs, HK-style) and food from the cha can tings..

At night, we went to the famous night markets, e.g. Temple Street, Ladies' Market, Fa Yuen Street etc... These places offered great opportunities for us to experience how HKers live, eat, shop and play. The visit to Repulse Bay was a bit too touristy for my liking though.

Old Chapter: My Favourite Shopping Haunt...

My first visit to Hong Kong was in 1998, after I've finished my university studies. This trip was sponsered by my aunt. The two of us had a great time there, spending the 6 days shopping, eating and sightseeing. In 2000 and 2001, I visited Hong Kong again, with my boyfriend (now my hubby). Then, 2 more trips in 2007...

Although I've been there a few times, you wouldn't find a lot of photos on my HK page.....cos I'm always too busy shopping to take photos! There are lots of things to buy in HK - ranging from fashion, accessories, Chinese books...to dried oysters and scallops! Yep, I actually bought all those dried foodstuff back for cooking yummy dishes.

Hong Kong is a place where East meets West - it seems like a cliche, but that's a truth! In the building of tall modern buildings, the ancient art of geomancy (or "fengshui") is always a crucial part in the design process. That must be the explanation for Hong Kong's enduring prosperity, I guess!
