Getting TO/AROUND: Instead of taking the limousine taxi service from the airport, we came out of the airport, walked past the carpark and saw the "Taxi Meter" stand. Besides the fair stated on the meter, you'll pay an extra 100 baht. In the end, we paid a total of 480 baht for the taxi ride from airport to our hotel (situated at Karon). From what I heard from friends who took the limousine ride, this rate is cheaper than the 600 - 800 baht charged by the limousine taxi companies.

Getting TO/AROUND: When we went to Bangkok, we avoided taking taxis and tuk-tuks like we would the plague. The prices they quote were exorbitant (by local standards), and some of them will try all means and ways to scam you (taking you to shops, etc). Most of the time, we used the skytrain and subway system instead (cheap, fast and convenient).

However, during this Phuket trip, we had no other choice but to take the taxis and tuk-tuks. After asking around, we found that most of the prices quoted by the drivers were quite "standard" (for example, about 200-300 baht from Patong to the shopping mall areas eg. Tesco Lotus). The drivers drove quite safely (at least for those we encountered!).

Buses & Flights: Budget Flight from Singapore to Phuket

Getting TO/AROUND: These 2 budget carriers operate flights between Singapore and Phuket: Jetstar Asia and Tiger Airways. Both airlines periodically offer great deals and promotions. I purchased my Singapore-Phuket tickets at SGD $9 per way (that's a total of SGD $36 for 2 persons, return flight tickets...about USD$20 or less!!!).

Being budget airlines, they don't serve meals on board. If you really want a drink and some snacks, you can purchase them from the flight attendants. Note that outside food is strictly not permitted on board!

Jetstar Asia have allocated seats, but not Tiger Airways.

You can book your tickets online. Very secure and convenient.
