Nightlife Spot: L'OVELLA NEGRA
The o'vella negra looks sort of like a tavern and is very casual inside although a lot of people may be dressed to go clubbing later. It is a great place to hang out with friends as well as meet people. You'll see a mix tourists, erasmus and american students and also a lot of catalan students. I would always go there for the cheap pitchers of sangria and beer, about 7-9 euro for a pitcher that you can share between 3 or 4 people. It is usually very busy on weekends and it could take 15 or 20 minutes to find a table.

Nightlife Spot: OTTO ZUTZ
My friends and I really liked OTTOZUTZ, it is a nightclub that used to extremely selective and trendy and now that has lessened a bit. While it is still trendy and cool it no longer has famous people, it does however have a ton of students and young people from all over. While there are tourists it is also popular with Spanish students. There are three floors although the place is not huge, a floor with hip hop, another with electronica, and the third is VIP. Don't get too upset if you're not let into vip a lot of times it is just filled people who are willing to spend a lot on drinks. HUGE TIP!! Don't pay to get in a few blocks up on Maria Cubi and Amigo (an area of upscale bars) people hand out free passes to get in before a certain time. It's about a 12 euro entrance fee ith one drink included. (a cocktail here can cost up to 11 euro here). Many locals go to the nearby bars until closing and then head over to Ottozutz at around 3:30. Like all nightclubs in Barcelona it doesn't really get going until at least 2 or even later.

Nightlife Spot: LA PALOMA
La paloma is different from other nightclubs because it used to be a ballroom, now it's a techno night club with break dancers. The last time I went they even had an electronica singer and band, which was interesting, probably really incredible for those who love this music( not me). It's a cool experience, be careful at night though as it is not in the greatest area.

Nightlife Spot: Jamboree
Jamboree is a small but very popular club which has different things going on several nights of the week. Sometimes it has live music in the bar area downstairs, then later you can go upstairs and dance to hip-hop. It's a fun and casual place, no strict dress code. It's also easy to find since it's located on the placa reial.

Nightlife Spot: Night Clubs
Danzatoria also referred to as the Mansion, is a nice bar and club(free entrance) located on Mt.Tibidabo. The best time to go is during the warmer weather when you can wander on the very pretty outside terrace. This is a semi posh atmosphere, with mostly well dressed locals. Upstairs there is techno music and downstairs is hip hop, it has recently been redone so it is better than ever! If you don´t feel like dancing there are several areas to sit and enjoy a drink, (an expensive drink!). One tip leave before the bar closes because afterwards it will be hard to find a taxi.

Nightlife Spot: Discotheque
Discotheque is a large trendy nightclub located inside poble espanol, there are a variety of different types of people from punk to pijo. There are two floors and a VIP area, during the summer it expands to become La Terraza. Entrance is expensive, about 20 euro. When I went there was a catwalk show with models, so I imagine they do that all the time or if not another type of extra show.

Nightlife Spot: Bar Marsella
Bar Marsella is an interesting and fun bar, and it is also quite historical. Artists like Picasso used to frequent it, and inside there is a casual bright atmosphere, while several chandeliers give it a oldstyle ambience. It is best known for it's absinthe which in the United States is an illegal alcohol, I suppose due to it's high alocholic content. For those who haven't had it it's very strong and tastes sort of like black licorice. It is an unusual drink because there is a process one does before drinking it you put a cube of sugar inside with a spoon and light it on fire to burn some of the alcoholic content in it . Then you add water.

Nightlife Spot: Night Clubs
Pronounced Too-nell, this place seemed to be one of the few authentically spanish/catalan nightclubs around. What I mean by that is that there were nearly all spanish students there the few times that I went. The entrance is about 14 euro with one drink included. The music is spanish pop and a little bit of salsa so it's a nice place to dance. Compared to other places though I think that Tunnel was pretty small(only one floor) and the price seemed too steep. But if you're looking for a place with mostly spanish students and you love spanish pop than this might be the place to go.

Nightlife Spot: Calle Santalo-Maria Cubi
Around Plaza Frances Macia in the northern area of Gracia there are several nice bars to go to and later you can head to one of the nearby clubs, ottozutz, or bikini. The area goes from Calle Santalo to the nearby Maria Cubi. There are several different types of bars ranging from very classy to a pub like atmosphere.

Nightlife Spot: Princesa 23
Princesa 23 is the perfect bar to start your night . It has pretty arabian decoration and areas to eat tapas as well as couches to lounge on., Every week there is drink special for 3 euro, the mojitos are great as well as the tapas try the shrimp or cheese platter. Come early on Fridays or you won´t get in or have a place to sit. There is a mix of people here although like always there are many foreigners.
