Getting TO/AROUND: use the metro always inexpensive and easy to use. For visitors i think the best is the abono turistico, you can buy for one or two or three etc days; and it serve to take you from the airport into the city (buying the regular ticket this can cost an additional one euro cost) and you can use on metro trains and buses in the city. Zone A is Madrid proper and the airport. the machines after leaving the airport and taking the metro are automated and person assisted. In the automated machines, good to have cash in euros bills or coins, credit cards are the ones use in Spain,no chips like in France, as the machine do not take these. never try it with US cards. Since the price is about ie 11 euros for three days of transports, why not have the cash ready upon entering the metro system from the airport. Less hassle, easy rides, and cheap. See the link to the Metro system in website in No5 contact .
