Monasterio de El Escorial
The grandiose Monasterio del Escorial, built on orders of king rey Felipe II to commemorate the victory at Saint Quentin the 10 august 1557 over the king of France Henry 11 and to be the resting place of his parents Emperor Charles I (Charles V of Spain )and Isabel of Portugal as well as the rest of the family line.
It was finish 20 yrs later.
The name comes from old deposits of metal scraps where the village got its name EL Escorial .
It is an UNESCO world heritage site.
the different rooms or sections of the building are

La Casita del Infante (house of the dauphin) also known as the Casita de Arriba (upper house ) give its name from the Infante Don Gabriel de Borbon, son of Charles III. The building is to the south of the monastery and was used to house concerts of opera music. It was built between 1771 and 1773 : has Italian style gardens with descending terraces and possible to listen to the music from inside and outside.

La Casita del Príncipe (house of the prince) or Casita de Abajo (lower house), was built in 1772 for the prince of Asturias future Carlos IV as a recreation house in the vicinity of the oak trees between the monastery and the town.

you get here by bus from intercambiador de Moncloa with the bus company Herranz for about one hour ,and or cercanias trains at Renfe.
