    • La Habana was a fortified city and as such it was built around many towers many of which at least in part still stand. this are often overlooked but can be very rewarding for the visitor curious, historian, and just plain want to see something different. Here they are in photos

    • many parks abound in Havana with the main one the Central Park in Prado boulevard. It is the natural pasttime of all Cubans, and a great place to mingle and know the country well.

    • great walking lots of history, obispo (bishops street) empedrados (stone street first in havana near cathedral) oficios ( artisan street workers), monserrat (for the hill and saint) San Rafael (the shoppers corner), egido,(where the walls encircling havana of old still can be seen) linea (old tramway use to go by here thats why linea=line ) it leads to my place of birth. lots of beautiful scenery and the chance to talk to everyday Cubans, a must.

    • man beautiful colonial theaters exist including one name after the famous Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca who visited Havana in the 1930's before his assasination in Granada, Spain just as the Spanish Civil War was beginning in 1936.

    it is at paseo de Marti, esquina San Rafael in old Habana.

    • The old Spanish immigrants built mansions to host their club and still remember good old Spain. These were showcases of talent,business, and arts and crafts brought over by these Spaniards to their most precious jewel of the Spanish crown.
