the name comes because robbers used to steal carriages coming through there and back and the road made like a point L to go to Havana since Punta and brava because it was a hot spot so took on the feminine form in spanish into Punta Brava .
it was here in 1896 that the greatest Cuban General in the war for independance from colonial Spain die in battle Gen Antonio Maceo; he is buried in a mausoleum near where he felt from his horse at cacahual finca San Pedro,city of Punta Brava die December 7 1896. |
