Church and burning of Jeanne d'Arc

Church of Jeanne d'Arc
this is the church of Jeanne d'Arc in Rouen , it is build over the same spot where she was burn at the stakes.; that its why its construction shows a funnel to the sky as she rises up!!! religion, and beauty all in one plaza surrounded by more of it...

a bit of history of the church,
The church was built in 1979 on the site of the old church of Saint Vincent who was practically destroyed in the WWII by a bomb dropped in its choir.
Inside the church there is a book for you to write your impressions of the church.

poem by André Malraux, my own translation
" Ô Joan without burial or face, you who knows that the tomb of heroes is in the heart of the living"
Cathedral of Rouen

The Cathedral Grand of France

In 1145, the archobishop Hugues d’Amiens wanted to see a cathedral of stones. He begins the construction of the gothic cathedral of today. The parishioners came in chariots to help in the construction.

The Saint Romain tower, the front, part of the nave was raised when in 1200 a fire destroyed the roman cloister where the mass was always held. The work began again rapidly and the nave could welcome in 1204 the king of France, Philippe Auguste !
By 1250, the cathedral is completed.

Damaged in the war of Religion and the French revolution, the cathedral of Notre Dame de Rouen missed being totally destroyed during WWII by the bombs and fire. Recently the storm of December 26, 1999 had it lost one of its bell holder which damaged the vault and the stalls.

Always, she finds men of courage for save her, relieve her, and give her life at the heart of the city of Rouen.

A must see, gorgeous and full of French history
