Mayaguez is the capital of the West here in Puerto Rico. This is the largest city in the West coast, and as such, has all the amenities of the greater Metro area without the hassle and crime. We have beautiful parks, nice weather (Sometimes extremely nice: it often tops out at 90+ degrees) and the loveliest university campus in the world (;-) the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagues campus. The mall has all types of shopping opportunities, and the hospitals and emergency services are quite adequate. Traffic can be tacky, especially Fridays, since that's when all the students from other towns go their own during the weekends. Nightlife is awesome: several pleasant, outdoor bars take advantage of the warm nights, and there is actually an avenue dedicated to perdition, with about 6 bars and a 24 hour burger joint, featuring live music Thursdays through Saturdays.

• Pros:All the amenities of the greater Metro area without the hassle and crime. Things are closer and easier to get to.
• Cons:Traffic during the weekdays rush-hours, especially Fridays. Lots of panhandlers at every traffic light.
• In a nutshell:From Industrial Sea Shores to Cold Mountains: Mayaguez has it All!
