Jersey, small, neat and pretty

Jersey, Island of Flowers

Battle of the Flowers, every August
Jersey is a tiny island just off the coast of France, once a playground for the millionaires, very much a financial "tax haven" and still over 70% of business is financial transactions, with only about 25% tourism.

Being a small island it has limits, but it is charming and the people are very nice - the holiday island has long been famous for its beautiful golden beaches and many coves and bays, but the tourist industry is also now turning to offer great short breaks for people who want to unwind and take it a little slower.
having a birthday - Again!

My birthday in Jersey November 2005 and New Year

I went for a fabulous spa break at the Club Hotel and Spa, in Green Street, the newly refurbished 5 star boutique hotel was just marvellous and very luxurious.... I had a wonderful night !

Flying from Doncaster only took an hour and soon we were in the centre of St. Helier, at the hotel. It was a fabulous trip, with champagne on arrival. Not an everyday occurrence for this working girl, but the year had been a busy one and I had that "Loreal Moment! "

The room accommodation was spectacular, so were the treatments and I had a great mud wrap with a manicure afterwards which was very relaxing and set me up for the night on the town!

The Birthday Meal!

Jersey is renowned for its bonne cuisine, and there is a lot of French and Portuguese influence in the food on the island. There are plenty of affordable restaurants and our lovely taxi driver Ken suggested La Taverna, 6 York Street - where I was not disappointed. The food was wonderful (steak to die for) and the service friendly and efficient, - later we let our hair down and my sister and I got the waiters in a cinch! We loved it and went back again for New Years Eve where again the menu was exemplary, (steak, dover sole, duck, and Venison) and the chefs lemon sorbet was a dream! If you go, say Yvonne sent you!
