I think no special commentary is needed on this sight. Maybe a good advice is to visit as early as possible to avoid standing long in line.

In this area there are a lot of activities and interesting sights mainly during the day on weekdays, esp. if you want to visit the financial quarter. South Street from the Brooklyn Bridge until the South Ferry (to Governors and Staten Island) and the Battery Park (ferry to Liberty and Ellis Island) along the East River. You can find the South Street Seaport (and Pier 17) is a historic part of the city, once neglected, now a very lively place with shops, restaurants and ships, a market place and an ex-warehouse, Schermerhorn Row which is now a tourist center.

The best known and the most charming bridge in New York. It looks superb both by day and night. It provides you fascinating views however you pass, by car or on foot. I definitely recommend the latter as well (better to start from Brooklyn).

Brooklyn, a separate part of New York would be only by itself the 4th biggest city in the U.S. It has its own atmosphere strongly influenced by the inhabiting people: Indians, Arabs, Jews, Italians, Russians etc. It has also a lot of interesting sights to visit: the Brooklyn Museum, the Botanic Garden, the Prospect Park, the historic district of Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights. This latter one has a famous Promenade which provides excellent views on Lower Manhattan.

One of the most pleasant highlights of both of my visits was a walk in Central Park. Although it's quite huge, you still won't find it tiring to walk through after hiking miles and miles on the busy streets of Manhattan, Central Park is a real refreshment both physically and metally. You can check that New Yorkers thnk the same. Highlights include Strawberry Fields with Lennon's memorial, the Bethesda Fountain and Terrace next to The Lake, the Shakespeare Garden with the Belvedere Castle and Lake next to the the Great Lawn where hundreds of people playing several kinds of sports. When you had enough of refreshment you can visit some of the most famous museums (the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History or the Guggenheim) nearby.

Things To Do: Roosevelt Island with the Aerial Tramway

The island itself doesn't have anything special to offer but it's quick and simple to get over just for fun by the Aerial Tramway. On the way from Manhattan you will see the coast and skyline of Queens, on the way back you can catch the sight of the Upper East Side. The tramway which is actually a chair lift hanging on cables runs by the side of the Queensboro Bridge so you can observe also the bridge and the traffic on it quite well.
