The infamous gate
The memorial park of the ill-famed death camp is 60 km west of Krakow. It's one hour by car (main road # 44 or the motorway A4 dir. Katowice).
Admission is free, parking costs 7 PLN.
It's open from 08.30 until dark.
You need at least one hour to see Auschwitz and another one for the nearby Birkenau site.
