This is an absolute must in Bangkok. It's a huge complex of several buildings with great decoration and ornaments, including the famous Wat Phra Kaeo, the temple of the emerald Buddha.

Directions: The combined compound is open 8.30am to 3.30pm everyday. Cost is 200B (if you are Thai, it's free), and includes admission to Vimanmek Mansion and Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall, both in the Dusit area.

Wat Pho: The most spectacular temple in Bangkok

This is the "second must" after the Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaeo complex. A huge site with lots of smaller buildings with wonderful decorations. The main building houses the gigantic gold Reclining Buddha. Wat pho is famous for the traditional Thai massage, too.

Directions: The entrance to Wat Pho is on Chetuphon road. Situated next to (south of) the Grand Palace complex. It's open every day, opening hours are from 08.00am to 5.00pm, with a break from 12.00pm to 1.00pm.

This one is on the western bank of the Chao Phraya river (opposite the Grand Palace and Wat Pho). It's famous for its porcelain-covered pagoda which sparkles in the sunshine.

Well, exactly how you imagine a Chinatown anywhere else in the world. Many small shops, narrow streets, vivid, crowded (maybe a bit chaotic), colors, lights and, of course, great food.
