Kia ora!!! Welcome to Auckland, the City of Sails.

Auckland City

Westhaven Marina and the Auckland Skyline.
Auckland my hometown since 2001, is the main gateway to the excitement ,the beauty of the land of the long white clouds.

Auckland's Maori name is Tamaki Makau Rau, the city of 100 lovers. A named earned because of it's conquests by many fighting for control over the area in the past.

The Auckland region have 48 volcanic cones and more than 50 islands. Several of these dormant volcanic cones dotted around the city provide great panoromic view of the city.

Auckland's population stands at 1.3 millions which is about 1/3 of the country populations. The city is the world’s largest Polynesian city. Around 62% of its residents are of European descent, 12% are Maori, 11% are of Pacific Island descent and there is a growing Asian population of around 9% mainly of chinese and indian descent.

With it's increasingly cosmopolitan population you get a great mixed of cultural festivals and cuisines. The word “Pacific Rim”, blending Asian and Pacific flavours.

This is my Auckland and as I'm living here I will be constantly updating informations and pictures so do come back often.
Matapouri Bay

Beyond the City *

There are lots of Beautiful Beaches, Bays, islands, mountain ranges if you venture outside the city limits. Here are some of my favorites......Piha , Muriwai, Catheral Cove in the Coramandel , Tutukaka Coast in Northland....endless choice of white or dark sandy beaches, calm or surfing ones.

Pros:"Beautiful beaches and Parks everywhere."
Cons:"Poor Public transport"
In A Nutshell:"More than just a gateway to NZ."
