If you are in Kuala Lumpur and have a day to spare , it is worth making a day trip to Melaka.

Malacca or Melaka is the most historical city in Malaysia especially architecturally. Because of its strategical location on the Straits of Malacca, one of the most important shipping routes in the old world and still is today, it was colonised by the Portuguese, the Dutch and then the English. Before that Chinese and Arab traders have been trading there for decades or even longer.

All those influences has left a very interesting architecturally influence very noticable if you walk around the old city.

I was there a few years ago, so the quality of the photos might not be that good but will give you a good idea of what I'm talking about.
