Age of Innocence

by SharrieShaw - last update: Sep 11, 2006

Sep. 1, 2006.

The monk's robe in this country is pink. I have yet find out why except that may be they are mostly nuns rather than monks. Still, I thought they look pretty in pink :)

Sometimes, it's interesting what was retained after visiting a country. I'm more inclined to form an opinion or feeling about a country at least a few months after visiting it rather than when I was there or right after a visit. In this way, I was able to retain the best of it all. After I've let the dust settled, that is.

MYANMAR (that's what I prefer to call it) feels a lot calmer & peaceful than Cambodia & Thailand. It is less exotic, less war-torned & people are simpler. I feel it is a country worth visiting at least 2 or 3x.
I've only been here once & only been to Yangon. Yet, my experience has been a fantastic one. I met some of the most honest people in the world (how i know this? i dropped US$200 on the seat of my flight & one of them, possibly a construction worker, immediately told me about it)! It may be an isolated case but it was a great start for me on initial approach to the country. It's something I'll always remember of this country.

In A Nutshell:"No question about honesty"
