Memoirs of A Geisha Revisited

The Season of cherry blossoms & miyako odori

Maiko performing @ Heian Shrine, Kyoto
Aug. 28, 2006.

The land of the rising sun.
A country so unique in its language, culture, faunas & flowers that if you have not been here, you cannot imagine it in its full glory & blossom.
It feels like out of this world - our world.
Yet, a country is not measured by its size or dimension.
Its depth & its own place in history is what makes it a most interesting, vibrant & memorable country to visit.

Japan embodies the best of the past, the present & the future.
I love this country for its uniqueness, its strive for the very best & its preservation of its very own, be it culture, art, food or mind.
I could not imagine what it is like to be a Japanese, but I certainly can imagine what it is like to live in Japan. I've been here more often than most & certainly more often than every country I've ever been to!
Cherry blossom in Spring lasts only around 2 weeks

It is absolutely the loveliest time of the year - Spring.
The beginning of the cherry blossoms & party time.
It is a time for joy & rejoice. A time to enjoy simple beauty in life.

The best time of the year to visit Japan.
To enjoy these short-lived, beautiful & magnificent sights, Kyoto is the ultimate choice.
The geishas are out there dancing & the mood is one of exuberance.
Enjoy the dance of life & the best of what Japan has to offer now.
Spring is that time of the year.

It was said after the offering of the ring, it's the beginning of sufferings.
Well, what do u think?
In Japan, weddings are costly affairs.
They can cost as much as a house or even more.
Yet, there are still an amazing numbers of marriages going on seasons after seasons.
I suppose that bodes well; there's hope afterall :)
In any case, good luck to all those who decided to have a wedding in this country!
Hmm, I wonder how much those kimonos alone cost?!
Spring wedding = hope ?!

The Memoirs is one of my favorite books and sparked my interest in Japan. Someday...

Could hardly agree more: Japan is present on my lists of Top Ten countries, cities, islands and national parks! ;-)

Oddly enough, I just read the book and it did tickle my interest in a country I'd really not considered before.

Thanks for the wishes, Sharrie. You're so lucky you were passing on Monday. Both the eathquake and the typhoon hit me. But not to worry at all... : )
